Well, apparently I was tagged for interrogation by the art police! So here goes:
First and foremost:
RULES:
1) You MUST post the rules.
2) Each person MUST post 5 things about themselves in their journal.
3) Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and create 10 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
4) You have to choose 5 people to tag and post their icons on your journal.
5) Go to their page and tell them you have tagged them.
6) NO TAG BACKS!
7) (No stuff in the tagging section about "You're Tagged If You're Reading This" You legitimately have to tag 10 people)
Now for a few things I never wanted any of you knowing:
Let's see.....
1. I enjoy a good laugh......even if it startles everyone else.
2. My mind tend to be among the stars rather than always down here on terra firma, but that's sorta necessary given our craft.
3. I tend to recalibrate my thought process. It's survival instincts kicking in for sure!
4. I'm pretty tolerant of anyone so long as they show respect rather than tripping on their egos.
5. I'm always looking to learn new things and take crits from any artist, no matter if they're 12 or 100. We need to constantly learn from one another rather than compete as unrealistic as that may sound to some.
's questions:
1. Are you happy with the art you currently produce?
That's sort of a loaded question. I usually tend to always strive for improvement, though I never rest on my laurels and quickly move to the next drawings.
2. What is the main thing you think you need improvement on?
Again, many things there, but I would say consistent anatomical understanding, human and animal. Colouring, for sure, has been one of my weaker points.
3. What is something you feel you need to draw less of?
I think I have a strong tendency to draw Warner Brothersy/quasi-bluthy stuff, so I've been working to expand on that.
4. How long have you been drawing?
Technically, I have drawing all my life, however I really didn't get serious about it until a decade ago. The last year or two has seen the bigger jumps in improvement, at least I hope others think that!
5. Have you taken any art classes?
In short, yes. The best classes I took were at the Animation Academy and the Animation Guild here in Burbank, CA. Also, observing amazing talent online has also a plus! it's amazing how fast you can pick up certain things by observing even one subject matter from multiple artists, ie, musculature or expressions.
6. What time of day does the drawing flow come easiest for you?
Considering I work fulltime as well as freelance, it's a crap shoot. Sometimes, my drive goes ka-put in the middle of the afternoon, but since I'm usually on the job, I have to find any means of motivating this clunker of a body.
7. Have you ever make yourself lose sleep to work on a piece?
Often.
8. Do you ever think of quitting art, getting a nice business cut and getting a real job?
Only after the bullet passes though my br...............wait a minute..............NO WAY IN HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
9. You take art serious?
Without a shade of a doubt.
10. Your favorite part of the drawing process?
Varies! Conceptualisation is always fun, however, really getting the forms, characterisation and any additional nuts and bolts can be a fun challenge!
And now.......my own questions:
1. What is your favourite subject to draw?
2. Are you interested in working professionally in art?
3. What are your fuels, comestible and otherwise for producing such art?
4. When you draw, particularly characters, do you visualise shapes that comprise the character or is it hard to pre-vis and resort to lots of sterm und strang/trial and error?
5. What are your main influences?
6. What do you do to overcome serious burnout in the midst of a deadline?
7. What are your greatest difficulties in drawing and, by this, I mean something that takes a few years or more to learn even though you jealously observe your peers getting it right away?
8. Would it be veritable to say that we are learning at a faster pace that our predecessors due to the invaluable information on the internet at our disposal?
9. What kind of music do you listen to when drawing if any?
10. Do you see outsourcing of our jobs, in this case, animation production, to cheaper locales abroad a detriment to our job force and our own prowess in actually producing the animation?
The chosen few:
(whoops.....too many. But it's worth it! We need recognition darn it!!!!)
